October Half Term
Over the October Half Term week Chomp held 9 sessions, providing 280 meals to families. We had fun activities from Royal Pavilion, Nam Yang Martial Arts & Tick Tock Bridgette, as well as spooky halloween crafts all week!
Looking back on Chomp summer…
With our first summer back after stopping services for COVID-19 we were so happy to see so many wonderful faces. Over the 5 weeks we put on services in 8 venues across the city, from the west of the city in Portslade to the east of the city in Whitehawk.
We had so many amazing people join us: Nam Yang Brighton doing a martial arts session; TickTock Bridget with a storytelling movement activity; The Royal Pavilion with show & tell from dinosaurs to bugs; and Albion in the Community putting on some fun football activities!
There was so much delicious food thanks to Sam & Sheila; Charlotte from Therapy Kitchen; Ethicurean Edd; Momma Cherri; Mitchie; Carley and Caterlink – providing over 1,000 meals to families!
Thanks to everyone who made it such a special summer holiday, we can’t wait to see you again soon!
Getting ready for Summer
The summer holidays start next week and this year Chomp is running 29 lunch clubs, feeding 11 low income families each day, with our partners running another 20 clubs across the city.
We’ll be having crafts, games, outdoor activities and special guests from The Royal Pavilion coming each week. We’ll be having guest cooks join us for food from Charlotte at Therapy Kitchens, @EthicureanEdd and more. We can’t wait to see you all!
As it stands, we have a shortfall in our funding next year. Help us raise funds for 2022, as we continue to support families experiencing holiday hunger, by sharing the link and donating to our justgiving page!
June Half Term
Over Half Term we held 5 sessions across Brighton & Hove at Benfield, Gloucester Place, Whitehawk, West Blatchington and our Chomp Partner Hove Methodist. We served a total of 78 children, 66 adults and a total of 144 meals. This was all thanks to our amazing team of 11 volunteers providing a total of 64 hours of volunteering over half term!
We loved getting outside, enjoying the lovely sunshine and seeing so many faces!
Women’s Wellbeing Days
In the gap between Easter and Half-Term we’ve been busy putting on some wellbeing days for our Chomp mums at Rock Farm. We’re putting on one a week for five weeks aiming to reach as many mums as we can across Brighton & Hove. We’ll be having delicious food from Charlotte at Therapy Kitchen and doing lots of different relaxing activities from massages to jam jar decorating.
One of our Chomp mums said: “It was so nice being around other women who are all in similar situations. I met some lovely new people today and it was so nice coming away with the jars that we made as a lovely memory too.”
Chomp over Easter
This Easter we were able to put on some small size Chomp sessions. We were so happy to be able to see some of you again and also meet some new faces!
We were able to hold Chomp sessions at our Benfield, West Blatchington, Gloucester Place and Whitehawk venues and at our partner venues at Hove Methodist.
We partnered with the government initiative ‘Holiday and Activities Food Programme’ to reach out to some new Whitehawk families. We took our families for some amazing days out at Rock Farm, and also did some activities with Albion in the Community!
Thanks so much to our volunteers who put aside their time to help out with Chomp, we couldn’t do it without you. And thank you so much to Charlotte at Therapy Kitchen, Sadi from Albion in the Community and everyone else involved in putting on our Chomp Easter Sessions.
